Aftershock Festival was founded in 2012 by producer Danny Wimmer as the West Coast's answer to the need for a major rock festival. What began as a modest one-day event has evolved into one of America's most significant rock gatherings.
The festival's growth tells the story of rock music's enduring appeal: starting in 2012 as a single-day affair, expanding to three days by 2019, and becoming the epic four-day marathon we know today from 2021 onwards. This evolution reflects the festival's commitment to giving fans more of what they crave - exceptional live music across multiple days.
Over more than a decade, Aftershock has welcomed over 160,000 attendees annually, establishing itself as a pilgrimage site for rock devotees from across the globe. The festival has moved from Gibson Ranch to its current home at Discovery Park, providing better facilities and accessibility for the growing crowds.
The festival's philosophy is beautifully simple: unite the finest representatives of rock and metal music from every generation on one extraordinary platform. From legendary pioneers who defined the genre to cutting-edge underground acts pushing boundaries - Aftershock creates a unique atmosphere where the rock community becomes one.

Aftershock isn't just about the music - it's about the experience. Picture this: dedicated fans literally racing to the barrier at gates opening, then standing at the front for 11 hours straight in 90-degree heat, completely immersed in the music. This level of devotion creates an electric atmosphere that's absolutely infectious.

Leading rock festival promoter in the United States, renowned for creating unforgettable experiences for rock music fans. Danny Wimmer's attention to detail and passion for the genre has made his festivals the gold standard for rock events.
Danny Wimmer's philosophy centres on creating authentic rock experiences that honour the music's heritage whilst embracing its evolution. Each festival reflects his commitment to both the artists and the fans who make rock culture so vibrant.
Aftershock offers a complete sensory experience. Licensed cannabis vendors (with state approval), craft beer gardens, interactive sponsor activations, and art installations create a festival environment that engages all your senses.
The California October weather creates the perfect backdrop for outdoor festivities. With temperatures reaching 30-35°C, it's shorts and t-shirt weather - ideal for dancing, moshing, and soaking up the rock atmosphere.
What sets Aftershock apart is the genuine sense of community. Strangers become friends over shared musical moments, creating memories and connections that last long after the final encore.
